Residual sockets here are slightly sclerotic and show so little remodeling years after extraction that the inter-dental trabeculae remain. Often the crestal cortex does not cover the old extraction sites, as seen here. The needle was gently pushed through the dense fibrous scar covering the old socket and fell into a hollow space. |
