Glistening Oil Cysts and Fat Globules Admixed with Fibrosis |

Same patient as Photo #7. Many osteonecrotic lesions are comprised of an admixture of fibrous or fibrofatty tissue and glistening, semitransparent oil cysts (see arrow; coalesced liquefied fat from dead adipocytes) and fat globules. When such tissue is present it may show minimal connection to the irregular cavitational walls. |
